Fishing in Nevada

Nevada's Pyramid Lake is the only place in the world to catch Lahontan cutthroat trout in their original strain — fish over 20 pounds are caught from ladders along the shore each winter. Lake Mead and Lake Mohave hold striped bass and largemouth. The Truckee River runs trout through Reno. Walker Lake and the Ruby Mountains lakes offer high-country brookies and rainbows. Most water is open year-round given Nevada's mild climate, and crowds stay light outside Pyramid.
