Fishing in Mississippi
Mississippi is a crappie fanatic's home water. Sardis, Enid, Grenada, and Arkabutla — the Flood Control lakes — grow some of the biggest crappie in the country, with Grenada producing 3-pound slabs in spring. Ross Barnett and Pickwick add largemouth and trophy smallmouth respectively. The Mississippi River backwaters hold blue and flathead catfish over 70 pounds. The Gulf Coast around Biloxi and Pascagoula produces redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and offshore cobia and snapper.
