Delete Your Account

This page explains how to permanently delete your CatchVault account and the data associated with it. It applies to the CatchVault app on iOS and Android, published by CatchVault.

Option 1 — Fastest

Delete from inside the app

If you still have CatchVault installed and can sign in, deleting from the app is immediate — there is no waiting period and no request to review.

  1. 1Open CatchVault and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. 2Tap the Profile tab, then the settings gear in the top corner.
  3. 3Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. 4Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete.

Your account and data are removed from our active servers as soon as you confirm. You will be signed out immediately and cannot sign back in.

Option 2

Request deletion from the web

If you no longer have the app installed, changed devices, or can't sign in, submit the form below. We'll email the address you enter to verify the request, then delete the account and its data within 30 days.

Use the email address you signed up with. We can only verify requests sent from that address.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes the following from our active servers. This cannot be undone, and we cannot restore an account after deletion.

  • Your profile: username, display name, bio, avatar, home water, and account settings
  • Every catch you logged: species, length, weight, date, notes, and GPS location
  • Photos and videos you uploaded, including catch photos and measurement captures
  • Social activity: comments, likes, follows, follow requests, and direct messages you sent
  • Events you created, along with your RSVPs and join requests
  • Leaderboard entries, achievements, and stats derived from your catches
  • Push notification tokens and notification preferences
  • Your login credentials and authentication records

What we keep, and for how long

A small amount of data outlives your account, either because the law requires it or because it protects other anglers. Everything below is kept for the stated period and then deleted.

Encrypted database backups

Backups taken before your deletion are kept on a rolling basis and age out within 30 days, after which your data is gone from backups too.

Transaction and purchase records

If you made a purchase, we keep the minimum billing record for up to 7 years to comply with US tax and accounting law. These records are not linked to a usable account.

Safety and moderation records

Reports, blocks, and moderation decisions may be kept for up to 2 years after deletion so we can enforce our Terms of Service and protect other anglers.

De-identified analytics

Aggregate, de-identified usage statistics that cannot be tied back to you are retained. Identifiable analytics events are removed within 24 months.

Don't want to delete everything?

You can remove individual catches, comments, likes, and follows from inside the app without deleting your account. You can also make your profile private so only approved followers see your catches.
