Fishing in Utah
Utah punches well above its weight in trout. Strawberry Reservoir holds Bonneville cutthroat to 10 pounds. Flaming Gorge is mackinaw, kokanee, and trophy brown trout water — the lake-trout state record came from there. The Green River below Flaming Gorge runs hundreds of trout per mile. The Provo and Weber rivers, urban tailwaters minutes from Salt Lake, are Blue-Ribbon designated. Lake Powell stripers and largemouth, Bear Lake cutthroat, and Boulder Mountain brookies round out a state with wildly diverse fisheries.

Licenses are valid for 365 days from date of purchase. Multiyear fishing licenses (up to 5 years) lock in current rates. The Combination License covers both hunting and fishing. The Flaming Gorge Reciprocal Permit lets a UT angler fish the WY portion of Flaming Gorge (and vice versa) without a second state license.
